Plastic Free Bubble Baths

August 14, 2018

Looking for plastic free bubble bath? Here is a plastic free and zero waste option for bubble baths for kids and adults.  Lush bubble bars come package free and  are affordable if you know what you're doing.

You can try making your own bubble bath to avoid plastic packaging and waste, but so far I haven't managed to create a good one yet.

I'm not a fan of all the ingredients and generally try to avoid SLS as it dries skin and can irritate, but it is in most soapy products you buy including detergents, shampoo, bubble bath and toothpaste.

When you buy in store, you pick the items you want and they are put into a paper bag with a sticker at the checkout. You can probably bring your own container and ask for no sticker but it does come handy in identifying your purchases.

There are loads to choose from, but I limited us to just one this time and I couldn't go past this Blackberry flavoured Comforter bubble bar which is good for multiple uses.

They recommended half a bar for a bath,  but I used about 1/8 of the bar and got a super bubbly bath. If you're only filling the bath half way for little ones, then use even less than this.

I find Lush instructions to be a little on the excessive side, so always start with less and go from there.

Once you have cut or broken off a piece, crumble it under running water while you fill the bath and the bubbles start appearing instantly.

When we tried this one in the shop, the water went really pink, but with the amount we used it just had a slight tinge.

Remember to always store it somewhere it won't get wet.

It's not a product we would use on a daily basis, maybe once a week at most so this bar will last us a few months which is great value. It keeps me happy because it's zero waste and my daughter is happy as she still gets her special bubble baths and an occasional trip to the lush store. Even if you aren't buying anything, visiting their store is a lot of fun!

There are plenty of other amazing bubble bars to choose from and they vary in price ranging between $8-12.

Here's a few on our wishlist….

The French Kiss Bubble Bar : Rosemary and lavender combined with coconut oil. (I was given one of these for my birthday and can't wait to try it out!)

Brightside Bubble Bar : Sicilian mandarin, bergamot and tangerine.

Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar: Patchouli, frankincense and cinnamon.

Sunnyside Bubble Bar: Golden and beautiful with wild orange, lemon and tangerine.

The Bubble Spinner: They have a few spinners and this one is fragranced with grapefruit and lime. It is reusable, so you spin it in the water to get your bubbles, then place it somewhere to dry for next time.

The Modfather Bubble bar - Most of the bars are targeted and women and kids, but this one is a bit more manly with Brazilian orange oil

I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles Bath Bar: How cool is this one! swish it in the bath and blow a few bubbles, then pop it up to dry If you plan to reuse it another day.

And there are even more to choose from!! You can always head to their website to check out the rest of their plastic free and package free range.

Have you tried the bubble bars yet? I'd love to know what you thought - and if you've got any recommendations for which one we should try next!
